Cucumber Longo Da China Seeds

Longo da China is a distinctive cucumber variety valued for its exceptionally long fruits and reliable cropping.

 

It produces smooth cylindrical cucumbers that can reach 40 to 50 cm in length. The skin is medium green with a fine texture, while the flesh is crisp, juicy, and mild in flavour.

 

This variety is early to mid season and performs best under glass or in sheltered outdoor conditions. Plants are vigorous climbers with a trailing habit, requiring support such as canes, trellis, or netting. Longo da China is highly productive, yielding consistently over a long harvest window.

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds singly in pots 1 cm deep on edge in moist compost. Keep at 20–24°C until germination. Transplant seedlings into larger pots or directly into the garden once all risk of frost has passed. Provide strong support for climbing.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Keep soil consistently moist and mulch to conserve water. Feed with a potassium rich fertiliser once flowering begins. Train vines up supports and pinch out side shoots if growth becomes excessive. Pick fruits regularly to encourage continuous cropping.
