A vigorous and productive climbing courgette producing long trailing stems and abundant fruits with tender flesh and excellent flavour.

 

Known botanically as Cucurbita pepo Ola Escaladora this organically grown strain is valued for its unique climbing habit and heavy yields.

 

Unlike bush varieties Ola Escaladora can be trained vertically on supports making it one of the most space saving and decorative choices for home gardens and allotments.

 

Its reliable germination and organic cultivation make it a favourite for sustainable gardeners.

 

Seed Qty Approx 6 seeds

 

Sow April to June indoors or directly outdoors after the last frost. Germination 7 to 14 days at 18 to 22°C. Soil and Position Fertile well drained soil enriched with compost; prefers full sun. Height and Spread Trailing stems reaching several metres when supported. Harvesting July to September; pick fruits when 15 to 20 cm long for best flavour.

 

Sowing instructions

Sow seeds individually in pots indoors from April or directly outdoors after frost risk has passed. Plant seeds 2 cm deep. Harden off indoor seedlings before transplanting. Space plants 90 cm apart in rows or train vertically on trellises. Water well after sowing and keep soil evenly moist.

 

Grow and maintenance

Grow in fertile soil with regular watering to encourage strong growth. Train stems up supports or trellises to save space and improve air circulation. Harvest fruits regularly to prolong cropping.
