Sow February to April indoors in trays or directly outdoors after the last frost. Germination 7 to 14 days at 20–25°C. Soil and Position Light fertile well drained soil; prefers full sun. Height 25–40 cm with compact stems and crested flower heads. Harvesting July to October; blooms continue throughout summer until the first frost.

 

Sowing instructions

Prepare a fine seed bed in full sun. Sow seeds thinly in drills 1 cm deep and 20 cm apart. Thin seedlings to 15 cm spacing once established. Water well after sowing and keep soil evenly moist during dry spells. Cockscomb benefits from early sowing indoors for stronger plants.
