Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds indoors in trays or pots from March to April, or directly outdoors from late April to May. If sowing indoors, cover the seeds lightly with fine compost and maintain a temperature of 15-20°C. Keep the soil moist until germination, which should take 14-21 days.

 

Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into their permanent location, spacing plants 20-25 cm apart. Chives grow well in full sun to partial shade and prefer moist, well-drained soil. Regular harvesting of the leaves will promote new growth, and the plant will continue to thrive year after year.
