Carrot SugarSnax 54 F1 Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This early summer carrot has a superb flavour with rich orange coloured sweet and crunchy long uniformed roots.

A good diesease resistant variety that could also be grown in a deep container.

Loam - chalky soil that's alkaline, acidic or neutral

Companion Plants Leeks, onions, parsley, radish, tomato, lettuce and marigolds

Do not plant with kohl rabi, parsnip or fennel

A handy tip thin in the evening after watering to try and avoid carrot root fly.

Carrots need a firm fertile soil thats not been manured in the last year. Dig the soil in autumn and apply a general fertiliser two weeks before sowing. Water the carrots during dry weather to prevent them splitting and try to thin in the evening to avoid carrot fly.

Sow in March under cloches to harvest an early crop in July then from April onwards into open ground making successional sowings through summer.

The seed is extremely small but try to sow as thinly as possible in drills 1cm deep and in rows 15cm apart when the seedlings appear thin to around 10cm apart.
