Caraway ORGANIC Herb Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This easy to grow tall biennial herb has an intense aroma and bears green feathery foliage in the first year that has a good flavour the fresh leaves can be used in salads.

It goes on to produce large umbels of white flowers during the second year from which the seeds are harvested.

It can be used for digestive problems and heartburn.

Sow April - May

Germination 10 - 50 days

Loam or chalk soil that's alkaline or neutral

Harvest September - October

Companion plants Pea's, tomatoes

Pick the leaves when required and gather the seed heads when they turn brown by shaking them into an air tight container.

A good source of vitamin A,C,E and dietary fibre

Use in a variety of dishes use the leaves as a garnish, add the seed to breads and cakes.

Sow the seed into well raked prepared moist soil where they are to grow between April - May or August around 0.5cm deep when the plants emerge thin them to around 45cm apart and keep well watered until they are established.
