Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds indoors from February to March in trays or modules filled with fine, moist compost. Sow 1.5 cm deep and keep at a temperature of 13-16°C. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into larger pots or outdoors after hardening off, spacing 30-40 cm apart.

 

For direct sowing, plant seeds outdoors from April to May in a well-prepared seed bed. Thin seedlings as they grow, keeping the strongest plants for transplanting to their final positions.

 

Water consistently and apply a nitrogen-rich fertiliser during the growing season to promote healthy development. Harvest when heads are firm and well-formed, cutting at the base with a sharp knife.
