Borage White Flowering Herb Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

Borago officinalis White Flowering is a unique and charming variety of the well-known herb, prized for its delicate, white blooms and refreshing cucumber-like flavour.

The name Borago is derived from the Latin "borra," meaning "rough," referring to the plant's hairy leaves, and officinalis signifies its historical use in medicine and cooking.

This white-flowered variant of borage features soft, star-shaped blooms, which add a touch of elegance to herb gardens, mixed borders, or containers. The leaves and flowers are often used in culinary dishes, drinks, and herbal teas, making this plant both decorative and practical.

This hardy, fast-growing plant thrives in well-drained, moderately fertile soil and enjoys full sun. Borage White Flowering grows to a height of 40 - 60 cm, making it ideal for the middle of herb beds or the front of borders.

Its striking white flowers attract pollinators like bees and butterflies, providing both beauty and biodiversity to your garden while enhancing your garden’s ecosystem.

Sowing Instructions

Indoors: Sow seeds in trays or pots filled with moist, well-drained compost from March to April. Lightly cover the seeds with compost and keep at 18-21°C. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle, and harden off before planting outdoors after the last frost.

Outdoors: Sow directly into prepared, weed-free soil from April to May. Lightly cover the seeds with soil and keep moist until germination occurs. Thin seedlings to the recommended spacing to allow for healthy growth.

Borage White Flowering is perfect for adding a touch of elegance and flavour to your garden. Its white, star-shaped flowers are ideal for herb gardens, mixed borders, or wildflower meadows, providing a unique and beneficial addition to your planting scheme.
