Blue Lace Flower Seed

Blue Lace Flower is an elegant annual valued for its delicate, lace like umbels of soft lavender blue blooms.

 

Each flower head can reach up to 10 cm across, carried on wiry stems above finely divided, fern like foliage. The blooms are lightly fragrant and last well when cut, making them a favourite for florists and cottage gardens alike.

 

Plants grow to around 60 cm in height and branch freely, producing a succession of flowers from midsummer into early autumn. Their airy texture makes them excellent companions in mixed borders, where they soften stronger colours and add movement.

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds thinly in trays of moist compost, covering lightly with soil or vermiculite. Keep in darkness at 18–21°C until germination. Transplant seedlings into pots when large enough to handle, then harden off and plant outdoors after the last frost, spacing 25–30 cm apart.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Blue Lace Flower prefers sunny, well drained sites and benefits from regular watering in dry spells. Pinch out young plants to encourage bushier growth. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering. Plants are not frost hardy, so treat as annuals in temperate climates.
