Sowing Instructions

 

Indoors: Sow seeds from February to April in trays or small pots filled with fine seed compost. Cover lightly and keep at 18–21°C. Prick out seedlings into pots once large enough to handle.

 

Outdoors: From May, sow thinly in well-prepared soil after the last frost. Thin seedlings to 25 cm apart. Basil thrives in warm, sheltered, sunny locations.

 

Harvest leaves regularly to encourage bushy growth. Pinch out flower buds to prolong leaf production and enhance flavour.
