Aubergine Mix Seeds

Sow January to April indoors on a warm windowsill or in a propagator

Germination 14 to 21 days in steady warmth

Soil and Position Fertile well drained soil in full sun. Best grown under glass or in a sheltered warm spot outdoors

Height Approx 50 to 70 cm depending on variety

Harvest July to October. Pick fruits regularly to encourage further cropping

 

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds indoors between January and April in pots or trays of moist compost. Cover lightly with compost or vermiculite. Keep at a steady temperature of 20–25°C until germination. When seedlings are large enough to handle transplant into individual pots. Grow on in warm bright conditions and harden off before planting out after the last frost.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Plant in fertile free draining soil in a sunny sheltered position or under glass. Water regularly and feed with a high potash fertiliser once flowering begins. Support plants with canes as they grow and pinch out the growing tip when five or six fruits have set to encourage ripening. Harvest fruits when firm and glossy.
