African Wisteria Tree Seeds

This upright deciduous tree is often multi stemed with greyish brown bark, glossy green pinnate leaves and spectacular looking scented purple hanging flowers that cover the whole tree from late spring.

 

Papery brown fruit capsules develop after the flowers have faded.

 

They can be grown in large pots if desired or garden borders.

Sow January - September 

 

Soak the seed in warm water 24 hours before sowing. 

 

Sow the seed between January - September into pots if moist compost on a warm window sill or in a propagator the temperature needs to be between 20 - 25°.

When the plants are large enough to handle transplant into individual pots to grow on.

 

Gradually harden off and plant out when all danger of frost has passed.
