Acanthus Mollis Seeds - Irish Plants Direct
 
This tall clump forming perennial has glossy dark green leaves and strong flower spikes with white and purple two lipped bracts. 
 
A long flowering architectural plant that is low maintenance grow in deep fertile well drained soil to minimise powdery mildew.
 
The flowers can be cut and dried to use in long lasting displays.

Sow August - November or February - May 
Germination takes 10 - 21 days 
Loam, chalk or sandy soil thats acidic alkaline or neutral 
Height 100 - 150cm 
Plant in sun, shade or part shade

Soak the seed for 24hrs hours prior to sowing. 
 
Sow between August - November or February - May on a warm window sill into trays of moist compost the temperature for germination is between 10° - 13° cover with sieved compost.
 
When the seedlings are large enough to handle transplant into 7.5cm pots to grow on.  
 
Gradually harden off the plants before planting out in the border.
 
Can be sown outside once the plants have been fully hardened off to flower the following year.
