Welsh Onion Herb Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This easy to grow evergreen bunching onion provides a fresh supply year round of green leaves that are hollow in the centre with a mild onion flavour.

The cylindrical bulbs have a mild flavour and can be used fresh like a salad onion or in various culinary dishes.

A great herb that is an excellent companion plant for many vegetables and is an excellent pollinator with their attractive creamy white flowers a great attraction for passing wildlife.

Sow March - September

Germination 7 - 14 days

Loam soil that's alkaline, acidic or neutral

Harvest June - October or year round if grown in side.

Do not plant with beans and peas

Snip the leaves when required

Use in sauces, soups and salads

Welsh onions need a well drained fertile soil in a sunny spot they are ideal for containers and borders.

Sow outdoors when the risk of frost has passed sowing thinly 1cm deep into drills 30cm apart.
