Swede Gowrie Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This easy to grow hardy winter vegetable produces high quality globe shaped purple roots with a sweet yellow flesh.

Harvest from October onwards.

Resistant to powdery mildew.

Sow May - July

Germination 14 - 21 days

Loam or sandy soil that's alkaline or neutral

Harvest October - March

Companion plants squash, tomatoes celery

Do not plant with potatoes or raddish

Leave in the ground until ready to use

A good source of Vitamin C, Potassium and Calcium

Use roasted, mashed or boiled

Sow thinly in a prepared seed bed between May - July in rows 45cm apart and 1.5 cm deep. Cover lightly and keep moist.

When the seedlings appear thin to 25 cm apart to grow on.

Sow every few weeks for a continuous crop.
