Sunflower Dwarf Double Seed

A compact and cheerful annual with fully double golden yellow blooms that resemble miniature pom-poms.

 

Dwarf Double Sunflower forms sturdy, bushy plants with multiple flower heads, each packed with layered petals and rich colour. Flowering from midsummer to early autumn, it adds warmth and texture to borders, containers, and cutting gardens.

 

This easy to grow sunflower thrives in full sun and well drained soil and is ideal for bedding, patio pots, and wildlife-friendly planting schemes.

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds thinly on the surface of moist well drained compost and lightly cover with fine soil. Maintain warmth at 18 to 22°C in a propagator or covered tray. Germination usually occurs within 1 to 2 weeks. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle. Harden off and plant out after last frost spacing 30 to 40 cm apart. For direct sowing wait until soil is warm and frost risk has passed.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Water regularly during dry spells and feed monthly with a balanced fertiliser. Support may be needed in exposed sites. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage further flowering. Sunflowers prefer full sun and tolerate light drought once established. Suitable for borders containers and wildlife schemes.
