Strawberry Sweet Fresca Seeds

The Fragaria vesca, commonly known as alpine strawberry, is a delightful and compact variety prized for its fragrant, sweet, and juicy berries.

 

The Latin name Fragaria is derived from fragare, meaning "to be fragrant," reflecting the plant’s delicious aroma, while vesca means "small" or "tender."

 

Sweet Fresca is an everbearing variety that produces an abundance of small, flavourful strawberries throughout the summer, perfect for fresh eating, desserts, and garnishes. Unlike traditional strawberries, this variety does not produce runners, making it ideal for container growing, hanging baskets, or borders.

Sowing Instructions

 

Indoors:

Sow seeds in trays of moist compost from January to April. Lightly press into the surface but do not cover, as light aids germination. Keep at 15–21°C. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots. Harden off before planting outdoors after the last frost, spacing plants 25 cm apart.
