Stipa Gigantea Giant Feather Grass Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This tall arching perennial grass has tufts of green foliage from which long narrow arching slender stems erupt during summer.

Pretty purplish flower seed heads turn a golden yellow colour during autumn providing a long season of interest.

Sow January - April or year round

Loam, sand or clay soil that's acidic, alkaline or neutral

Germination time 14 - 28 days

Height 200cm

Plant in sun or part shade

Flowers June - September

Ideal in beds, borders, containers, gravel, low maintenance

Also known as golden oats

Sowing the seed is possible year round if a gentle heat can be achieved.

Sow onto a seed tray of moist compost covering lightly with compost and place on a sunny window sill or in a propagator germinate at 20°.

When the seedlings are large enough to handle pot on in to individual pots to grow on.

Gradually harden off the plants before planting them out into their final growing position.
