Silene Carmine Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This delightful annual produces a cascade of semi double carmine pink flowers during summer.

They look great planted in baskets, containers and pots as part of a summer flowering bedding displays.

Loam or sandy soil that's alkaline or neutral

Height 30 - 40cm

Plant in full sun or partial shade

Ideal for containers, baskets and hanging baskets

Also known as nodding catchfly

Sow between March - May in a seed tray covering lightly with compost keep the temperature between 15 - 20°.

When the young plants are large enough to handle transplant into trays or individual pots to grow on.

Gradually accustom the plants to outside before planting out after all risk of frost has passed.

Sow the seed in a sunny border in mid May in a weed free moist finely raked soil where they are to grow.

Transplant the plants to 30c apart or pot into baskets and containers.
