This productive variety produces glossy, vibrant red fruits that develop from green to deep red as they ripen.

 

Lamia is valued for its thin skin, juicy flesh, and rich, sweet flavour that makes it ideal for fresh eating, grilling, roasting, and Mediterranean style cooking.

 

The fruits typically reach 18–22 cm in length and have a smooth, uniform shape that makes them particularly attractive in the kitchen and at harvest.

 

The plants are vigorous and early to crop, performing well in greenhouses, polytunnels, and warm outdoor positions.

Sowing Instructions

Indoors:

Sow from February to April in small pots or trays filled with moist seed compost. Cover lightly and maintain a temperature of 20–25°C. Keep the compost evenly moist until seedlings appear. Transplant into individual pots once large enough to handle and grow on in warm, bright conditions. Harden off before planting outdoors or into a greenhouse.

 

Greenhouse or Polytunnel:

Plant into large containers, grow bags, or prepared beds. Provide support if needed and feed regularly with a high potash fertiliser once flowering begins. Water consistently to encourage steady fruit development.
