This popular award winning variety has large blunt ended bright green pods that contain 6 - 8 sweet tasting peas that are produced in pairs on tbe stem. 

 

Successional sowings can be made during summer.

Peas require a sunny spot that has been well dug in the autumn and plenty of manure added to retain moisture, they do not grow well in acidic soil so liming may be necessary a few weeks before sowing.  

 

Sow from mid March when the soil has warmed up through to may for a succession of peas throughout summer. 

 

Dig a flat bottomed drill 5cm deep and water the drill, sow the seed around 5cm apart allowing 120cm between rows enough room has to be left between rows to stake the peas and harvest the crop.

 

When the plants reach 10cm high they need to be supported with canes, pea nets, twigs or chicken wire.

 

Alternatively sow indoors on a warm window sill or greenhouse in pots or an old piece of guttering from February for planting out in March.
