Onion Bolero F1 Seed - Irish Plants Direct

A high-performing long-storing variety, Onion Bolero F1 produces firm, round, golden-brown bulbs with a robust flavour.

This hybrid is renowned for its excellent storage capability, making it ideal for use well into winter, with onions that maintain their quality and taste.

Ideal for garden beds or allotments where it thrives in full sun and is easy to grow.

Perfect for cooking, roasting, and adding a deep, savoury flavour to soups and stews.

Sow: February - April

Germination: 10 - 14 days

Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil, neutral to slightly acidic

Harvest: August - September

Companion Plants: Carrots, Lettuce, Beets

Avoid Planting With: Peas, Beans

Harvest once tops begin to yellow and dry; rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, and beneficial sulphur compounds.

Sowing Instructions

Sow seeds indoors from February on moist compost, covering lightly with soil. Keep in a warm, sunny location or a propagator for best results.

Transplant seedlings outdoors after the last frost, spacing plants about 10-15 cm apart in rows 30 cm apart. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors from April.

Water regularly and feed occasionally to encourage healthy bulbs. Bolero F1 onions are ready for harvest when the tops naturally fall over.
