Sowing Instructions

 

Sow directly outdoors from March to May in prepared soil, 5 mm deep, and keep moist until germination. Alternatively, sow indoors in trays at 16 to 20°C, transplanting seedlings when large enough to handle. Thin seedlings to allow space for spreading growth.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Water regularly during dry spells and mulch lightly to retain soil moisture. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage further flowering, or leave seed pods to develop for ornamental use. Nigella orientalis is low-maintenance and thrives in sunny, well-drained positions.
