Nemophila Five Spot Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

A charming hardy annual with striking white flowers tipped in vivid blue to create a distinctive five spot appearance.

It forms low bushy clumps that provide a delicate summer carpet of colour for borders, edging, rockeries and containers and are excellent for informal cottage and pollinator friendly plantings.

Sow Sow March to May directly where they are to flower; can be sown in drills 0.5 cm deep in well prepared, pre watered soil.

Germination 14 to 28 days when kept in steady warm seedbed conditions.

Soil and Position Prefers well drained soil; tolerant of acidic, alkaline or neutral soils and best in full sun to partial shade.

Height Approx 15 cm; low mounding habit ideal for front of borders and containers.

Flowering June to October with a long season of delicate blooms when deadheaded and grown in a sunny site.

Sowing Instructions

Sow thinly in March to May directly into prepared soil or into trays for later transplanting; sow at 0.5 cm depth, keep evenly moist and thin seedlings to about 15 cm apart when established.

Grow and Maintenance

Grow in a sunny to partly shaded site in free draining soil. Water until established then moderate watering; deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering and maintain tidy plants.

Suitable for succession sowing for continuous displays and for sowing late summer for following year flowering in mild sites.
