Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds indoors from January to March, 1 cm deep in trays or modules filled with seed compost. Keep at 15-20°C until germinated, then move to a cooler location to grow on.

 

Harden off seedlings before planting out from late spring. Transplant into prepared beds with holes 15 cm apart, spacing rows 30 cm apart. Place seedlings in the holes and gently fill with water, avoiding soil over the leaves.

 

For direct sowing, plant seeds outdoors from March to April in drills 1 cm deep. Thin seedlings as needed and transplant when large enough to handle.

 

Harvest as needed from autumn into winter, enjoying a steady supply of fresh, flavourful leeks.
