Description

Gourd Snake Ornamental Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This easy to grow decorative gourd is a vigorous plant that produces long elongated green fruits upto 60 - 80cm long.

They resemble a winding snake and are great fun for children to grow.

Grow against a wigwam, trellis or pergola.

Pick the fruits when mature during autumn for home decoration they will remain decorative until spring.

Seed Qty 3 gram

Sow March - June

Germination 7 - 21 days

Loam or sandy soil that's acidic or neutral

Harvest August - October

Harvest by cutting the fruit off the plant

Sow between March - June onwards into 9cm pots placing 2 seeds on their side 1.5 cm deep place on a sunny window sill or propagator.

Keep moist remove the weaker seeding when they emerge and grow on the stronger one.

When the plants get 4/5 leaves gently accustom them to the outside and plant out when the risk of frost has passed.

Alternatively sow outside in late May placing 2 seeds in the ground 1.5cm deep remove the weaker seedling when they emerge.

They will need a trellis, wire, netting or a fence to climb against.
