Geum Red Dragon Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

Geum coccineum, commonly known as Red Dragon Geum, is a captivating perennial renowned for its vibrant, fiery-red flowers.

The Latin name Geum comes from the Greek word geuon, meaning "to taste," referring to the edible roots of some species, while coccineum is derived from the Latin word for "scarlet," highlighting the striking red colour of the blooms.

The Red Dragon variety stands out with its intense, vibrant red flowers and dark, almost black, foliage, creating a stunning contrast in the garden.

This compact and hardy plant makes an excellent addition to flower borders, cottage gardens, and container plantings, offering a bright burst of colour in late spring and early summer.
The long-lasting blooms are not only visually appealing but also attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies, making it an ideal choice for wildlife friendly gardens.

This bushy, upright perennial grows to a height of 45–60 cm and thrives in well-drained, moderately fertile soil with full sun to partial shade. Geum Red Dragon is relatively low-maintenance and can handle a range of garden conditions, from dry spots to slightly damp soils, making it a versatile and hardy choice for any garden setting.
