Forget Me Not Blue Ultramarine RHS Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

Cynoglossum amabile 'Ultramarine', also known as Chinese Forget-Me-Not, is a captivating annual or biennial celebrated for its deep ultramarine-blue flowers and silvery-green foliage.

The name Cynoglossum derives from the Greek words for "dog" (kyon) and "tongue" (glossa), a reference to the plant’s textured leaves. The ‘Ultramarine’ variety is renowned for its rich, vibrant blue blooms, making it an ideal choice for striking floral displays. Loved for its ability to self-seed, this hardy plant ensures its beauty will grace gardens year after year.

Included in the RHS seed scheme, Forget-Me-Not Blue Ultramarine is a dependable performer in UK gardens, delighting pollinators such as bees and butterflies with its nectar-rich flowers. Its compact growth and bold colouring make it a versatile addition to beds, borders, and containers.

This adaptable plant thrives in moderately fertile, well-drained soil and can tolerate full sun to partial shade. With a height of 50 - 60 cm, it’s perfect for softening edges or adding vivid blue accents to garden designs.

Sowing Instructions
Indoors: Sow seeds in trays or pots filled with moist, well-drained compost from March to May. Lightly cover with a thin layer of compost. Keep at a steady temperature of 15-18°C. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle, and harden off before planting outdoors after the last frost.

Outdoors: Sow directly into prepared soil from April to July. Scatter seeds thinly, cover lightly with fine soil, and water gently. Keep the area moist until germination occurs. Thin seedlings to a spacing of 10 - 15 cm for best results.

A brilliant choice for both experienced and novice gardeners, Forget-Me-Not Blue Ultramarine brings intense colour and charm to any setting. Whether used as a feature plant or as part of a mixed border, its vivid blooms are sure to impress.
