Dianthus Hollandia Mix Seeds

A classic, highly desirable annual Sweet William producing rich coloured clusters of mainly double flowers in pinks, reds, and whites; ideal for cottage borders, mixed containers, and fragrant cut flower displays.

Soil: Moist, fertile, well-drained; enrich with garden compost

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow thinly in trays of fine seed compost from March to May or in autumn for earlier spring colour. Cover seeds very lightly (approx. 0.5–1 mm), keep compost evenly moist and in a cool, bright position; seedlings typically appear within 10–21 days. Pot on carefully when large enough to handle, harden off and plant out after risk of frost with spacing of 15–20 cm for massed displays.

 

Care and Uses

Grow in full sun to partial shade; keep soil evenly moist during establishment and feed lightly for best flowering. Remove spent flowerheads to extend display and reduce unwanted self-seeding. Excellent for scented mixed borders, cottage-style schemes and small-scale cut-flower bouquets.
