Delphinium High Society Mix Seed

A majestic hardy perennial mix producing tall, large flowered spikes in a rich range of opulent colours, bred to give show-stopping vertical accent in herbaceous borders and cutting gardens flowers reliably in the first year from an early sowing.

Germination: 21–42 days at 15–20°C

Soil: Fertile, well-drained; enrich with garden compost; neutral to slightly acidic

Good Companions: Roses, delphinium-friendly perennials, foxglove

Avoid Pairing With: Plants that will outshade or crowd the base

 

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow indoors February–April in trays of compost, 0.5 cm deep, keeping compost moist and at 15–20°C; seedlings commonly appear in 21–42 days. Pot on when large enough to handle, harden off and plant out after risk of frost, spacing 40–45 cm apart for strong, upright spikes.

 

Planting and Care

Grow in full sun to partial shade in deep, fertile soil with consistent moisture. Provide staking or support for the tall spikes; feed with a balanced fertiliser during the season. Remove spent flower stems to tidy plants and encourage tidy clumping; plants will establish as hardy perennials and improve in vigour year on year.
