Cosmos Kiiro Seed

A tall elegant cosmos with soft creamy yellow blooms touched with peach tones creating a warm pastel display through summer and early autumn.

 

Cosmos Kiiro is a refined pastel toned annual producing delicate creamy yellow flowers often brushed with peach or rose on the reverse of the petals giving each bloom a gentle glowing quality in changing light.

 

Plants grow tall and airy with fine feathery foliage and long slender stems that bring height movement and softness to borders cottage gardens and naturalistic planting schemes.

 

The flowers are rich in nectar and pollen and attract bees butterflies and many other pollinating insects making this variety ideal for wildlife friendly gardens

Kiiro thrives in full sun and moist but well drained soil and flowers freely from midsummer into autumn when regularly deadheaded.

 

Its long stems and soft colour palette make it an excellent cut flower for pastel arrangements and relaxed summer bouquets.

Sowing and planting

Sow indoors from March to May or outdoors after the last frost in May

Germination takes approximately fourteen to twenty one days at temperatures between fifteen and twenty degrees Celsius

Grow in moist but well drained loam chalk or sandy soil in full sun

Height one hundred and twenty centimetres

Spread thirty to fifty centimetres

Flowers from June to October

 

Sowing instructions

Sow on the surface of moist compost and cover lightly with fine soil

Grow on in bright warm conditions then harden off before planting outdoors after frost risk has passed

For direct sowing scatter thinly over prepared soil and cover lightly

Space plants around thirty centimetres apart for strong upright growth

 

Growing and maintenance

Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering

Pinch out young tips to encourage bushier plants

Water during prolonged dry spells but avoid overwatering

Cut stems when buds are coloured but not fully open for longest vase life
