Chicory Herb Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This perennial herb bears delightful bright blue flowers that open in the morning closing in the afternoon that stand on slender stems.

A terrific plant for encouraging wildlife to the garden and can be grown in garden borders or a large pot.

It has bright green leaves and a deep tap root from which tea can be made to aid digestion and constipation.

Sow February - June

Germination takes 7 - 14 days

Well drained Loam, sandy or chalky soil that's acidic, alkaline or neutral

Planting ideas Beds, borders, large pots and wildlife garden

Use the roots and leaves to make a tea

Sow between February - March on a warm window sill or propagator into trays of moist compost cover with 5mm of sieved compost.

The temperature needs to be between 20 - 25°.

When the seedlings are large enough to handle transplant into 5cm pots to grow on.

Gradually harden off the plants before planting out from April onwards for them to flower later in the summer.

Sow between April - June where they are to grow in the garden border.
