Chicory Catalogna Aurelia ORGANIC Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This leaf chicory is a fast growing compact bushy plant with tall dark green leaves reminiscent of dandelion with a slightly bitter taste.

Use in mixed salad's or lightly steam.

Loam or sandy soil that's alkaline or neutral

Harvest May - November

Companion Plants Beetroot, beans, carrots

Cut off the heads when they are firm

A good source of vitamin A,C,E

Use in mixed Salads or cooked dishes

Sow between March - May indoors into seed trays or modules.

When the seedlings are large enough to handle transplant into trays spacing 5cm apart or individual pots.

Gradually accustom the plants to outside planting out after the risk of frost has passed.

Sow thinly outdoors between May - July in drills 1.5cm deep and 30 cm between rows when the seedlings appear thin to 20cm apart.
