Sowing Instructions

Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours before sowing. Plant individually in deep pots of moist free draining compost, covering to a depth of 1 to 2 cm. Maintain a temperature of 22 to 28°C in a propagator or warm bright location. Germination can be slow and irregular. Transplant seedlings when roots fill the pot and grow on in bright light. Move outdoors in summer and protect from frost in winter.

 

Grow and Maintenance

Water regularly during the growing season and allow the compost to dry slightly between waterings. Feed monthly with a balanced fertiliser. Provide winter protection in colder regions or grow in large containers that can be moved to shelter. Remove old fronds as they brown. Thrives in sunny sheltered positions and tolerates coastal winds.
