Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds directly outdoors from March to May in a prepared seed bed. Scatter thinly and cover lightly with soil. Keep soil moist during germination. Thin seedlings to 20-30 cm apart as they grow.

 

For an earlier display, sow seeds indoors from February to April in trays filled with moist seed compost. Sow 1 cm deep and keep at a temperature of 15-20°C. Transplant seedlings into pots and harden off before planting outdoors after the last frost.

 

Water regularly but avoid waterlogging, and deadhead spent blooms to encourage prolonged flowering. Calendula self-seeds readily, providing fresh colour year after year.
