Aster China Ostrich Feather White Seed

The Ostrich Feather series of asters is renowned for its graceful, ruffled blooms with petals that curve and twist like feathers.

 

The White variety offers elegant, pure white flowers that stand out in borders and make superb cut flowers.

Plants are bushy and branching, typically reaching 55–60 cm in height, and produce a profusion of blooms throughout summer and into autumn.

 

Their long stems and large flower heads make them particularly valued for floral arrangements.

Sow February to April indoors, or May outdoors after frost

Germination 14 to 21 days at 15 to 20°C

Soil and Position Fertile, well drained soil in full sun or part shade

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep in trays of moist compost. Keep at 15 to 20°C until germination. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle. Harden off and plant outdoors after the last frost, spacing 25 to 30 cm apart.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Asters prefer fertile, well drained soil and a sunny position. Water regularly during dry spells and feed with a balanced fertiliser to encourage strong growth. Remove spent blooms to prolong flowering. To reduce the risk of aster wilt, rotate planting sites each year.
