Antirrhinum Day And Night Seed.

Antirrhinum majus Night and Day is a striking bicoloured snapdragon variety, offering a stunning contrast between deep burgundy red blooms and creamy white lower petals.

 

Commonly known as Snapdragon, its name comes from the flower’s resemblance to a dragon’s mouth that “snaps” open when squeezed.

 

This compact, long-flowering perennial often grown as an annual, reaches 45–60 cm in height and thrives in well drained soil and full sun.

 

Night and Day is highly attractive to bees and butterflies, making it an excellent choice for borders, cottage gardens, and containers. It also makes a charming cut flower adding a vintage touch to floral arrangements.

Sow: January – March (indoors) or April – May (outdoors)

Germination: 10 – 21 days

Soil: Well-drained, moderately fertile soil; prefers neutral to slightly alkaline pH

Height: 45 – 60 cm

Flowering: June – October

Companion Plants: Lavender, Salvia, Foxgloves

Avoid Planting With: Fennel (may inhibit growth)

 

For prolonged flowering, regularly deadhead spent blooms. Pinch out young plants to encourage bushy growth and a more abundant display.

 

Sowing Instructions

 

Indoors:

Sow seeds from January to March in trays of moist, fine compost. Do not cover as light aids germination. Keep at 18–21°C. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into pots before planting out after the last frost.

 

Outdoors:

Sow directly into prepared soil from April to May. Lightly press seeds into the surface and keep moist. Thin seedlings to 20 cm apart once established.
