A cheerful and compact mixture of busy lizzies producing masses of brightly coloured blooms in shades of pink red white and purple. Known botanically as Impatiens walleriana Baby Mixed this variety is valued for its long flowering season and ability to thrive in shady spots where many other bedding plants struggle.

 

The neat bushy plants are ideal for borders containers and hanging baskets.

 

Unlike taller strains Baby Mixed remains compact and uniform making it perfect for edging and small spaces. Its continuous display of flowers ensures vibrant colour throughout the summer months.

Sow February to April indoors. Germination 14 to 21 days at 20–25°C. Soil and Position Moist well drained soil; prefers partial shade but will tolerate sun if kept watered. Height Approx 20 to 25 cm; compact bushy habit. Flowering June to September; masses of blooms in mixed colours.

 

Sowing instructions

 

Sow seeds indoors from February to April on the surface of moist compost and press lightly without covering as light aids germination. Keep at 20 to 25°C until seedlings appear. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays or pots. Harden off and plant out after frost spacing 20 cm apart.

 

Grow and maintenance

 

Grow in partial shade in moist well drained soil. Water regularly especially during dry spells and feed fortnightly with a balanced liquid fertiliser to encourage continuous flowering. Remove faded blooms to prolong the display. Plants are compact and require little maintenance once established.
