Description
Fennel Finocchio Montebianco Seeds - Irish Plants Direct
A high-quality fennel variety known for its large, crunchy bulbs and sweet mild flavour.
Finocchio Montebianco (Foeniculum vulgare) produces large, white, rounded bulbs with a delicate aniseed flavour.
This variety grows to a height of 60-80 cm and is perfect for both fresh and cooked dishes. It can be enjoyed raw in salads, grilled, or roasted, and its mild taste makes it a versatile ingredient in Mediterranean cuisine. Its compact size and flavourful bulbs also make it ideal for growing in small garden spaces or containers.
Perfect for gardeners looking for a sweet, crunchy fennel variety that thrives in sunny spots and well-drained soil. This variety is an excellent choice for a home vegetable garden or kitchen garden.
Seed Qty: 7 grams
Sow: March - May
Germination: 7 - 14 days
Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil, neutral pH
Height: 60 - 80 cm
Harvesting: July - September
Companion Plants: Tomatoes, Basil, Peppers

Ensure consistent watering, particularly during dry spells, to promote the growth of large, tender bulbs.
Sowing Instructions
Sow seeds indoors from March to May, 0.5 cm deep in moist, well-drained compost. Keep in a warm, sunny spot for optimal germination. Once seedlings are large enough, transplant them outdoors after the last frost.
Alternatively, sow directly outdoors in late spring once the soil has warmed. Space plants 25-30 cm apart to allow for their bulbous growth.
This fennel variety provides sweet, crunchy bulbs that are a delightful addition to any vegetable garden, perfect for both culinary and aesthetic purposes.
