Carrot Gold Nugget F1 Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This late main crop variety has blunt ended smooth skinned brightly coloured yellow roots with a sweet and crunchy texture.

Grow in planters and troughs if space is limited.

Loam or chalky soil that's alkaline, acidic or neutral

Harvest July - December

Companion Plants Leeks, onions, parsley, radish, tomato, lettuce and marigolds.

Do not plant with kohl rabi, parsnip or fennel

Use for Boiling, steaming or using raw in salads

A handy tip thin the carrots in evening after watering to try and avoid the carrot root fly.

Carrots need a firm fertile crumbling soil that has not been manure in the last year. Dig the ground in autumn and add a general fertiliser two weeks before sowing.

Water well in dry weather to prevent splitting. Try to thin the carrots in the evening to avoid carrot fly.

Sow between March - June the seed is extremely small but try to sow as thinly as possible in drills 1.5cm deep and in rows 30cm apart when the seedlings appear thin to around 5cm apart.
