An early cropping Italian variety that is fast to mature it produces a dense dark green firm head followed by numerous side shoots that can be picked over a long period of time from late summer.

Brassicas require a fertile well drained soil in partial shade that has been well dug in autumn they do not grow well in acidic soil so adding lime to the soil may be necessary.

 

Sow indoors from March onwards into seed trays on moist compost, pot and on when the plants are large enough to handle.

When they have around 5 leaves harden off and transplant outside to their final growing position spacing the plants around 45cm apart and 45cm between rows treading the plants in well.

Water well before transplanting and during dry periods. 

 

 

Alternatively sow out doors between April - May sowing thinly in drills 1.25cm deep thin the seedlings spacing the plants 45cm apart and 45cm between rows in their final planting position treading the plants in well.

 

Water well after transplanting and during dry weather.
