Melon Charentais ORGANIC Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This rounded cantaloupe melon has light grey green skins with a dense very sweet deep orange flesh.

Grow in a polytunnel or a greenhouse

Loam or sandy soil thats acidic or neutral

Harvest July -August

Companion Plants Corn, peas, beets, radish, salad crops, leeks onions and nasturtiums

Cut the fruit with a knife when they are large enough

A good source of Vitamins C & Potassium

Simply eat fresh on their own or add to fruit salads

Apply a liquid fertaliser every two weeks after the first leaves have developed.

Sow indoors between February - April sowing 2 seeds in 7cm pots on their sides about 2.5cm deep place onto a window sill, warm greenhouse or propagator. Pot on the strongest plants when the roots are visible at the bottom of the pots into 9cm pots and grow on.

Plant into large pots, grow bags or the ground when they are around 10cm tall. They will need support as they grow.
