Cauliflower Snowball ORGANIC Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This popular variety of cauliflower produces early crops of small bright white heads with a mild flavour.

They can be harvested small as baby veg or left to mature.

??Sow January - June

??Germination 14 - 21 days

??Loam - sandy soil that's alkaline or neutral

??Harvest June - July

??Companion Plants Other brassica, chard, celery, spinach, tomato, rosemary, sage and onion.

Do not plant with strawberries

??Cut the flower heads with a sharp knife at ground level when the heads are medium sized and firm

Ideal for freezing

Cauliflowers require a deep fertile humus rich soil in partial shade that has been well dug in autumn, they do not grow well in acidic soil so adding lime to the soil may be necessary.

Water well when transplanting and during dry spells.

Sow outside in a seed bed between April - June

Sow thinly in drills 1.25cm deep thin the seedlings eventually spacing the plants 45cm apart and 60cm between rows in their final growing position treading the plant in well.

Alternatively sow indoors between January - March onto a seed tray of moist compost placing the tray onto a warm sunny window sill.

When the plants are large enough to handle pot on into a tray of compost spacing the plants 5cm apart or into individual pots.

Gradually harden off the plants are plant out into the garden after the risk of frost has passed.
