Cabbage Greyhound Seed. - Irish Plants Direct
 
This mild flavoured early cabbage is a compact variety with pointed green heads with an excellent taste and texture. It can be used for spring grease or leave to mature for summer heads.
 
They are fast maturing from early summer onwards and ideal for smaller gardens. 
 
An excellent source of vitamin C and full of antioxidants.

Sow March - June
Germination 7 - 14 days
Loam - sandy soil that's alkaline or neutral 
Harvest June - September 
Companion Plants Other brassica, celery, chard, spinach, tomato, rosemary, sage and onions 
Do not plant with strawberries
Harvest from June onwards cut off the heads and leave the stumps in the ground to produce loose leaves
A good source of vitamin A and C
Use for Boiling steaming or shred for salads.
Ideal for freezing.
 
Cabbages requires a fertile well drained soil in partial shade that has been well dug in autumn they do not grow well in acidic soil so adding lime to the soil may be necessary.
 
Sow indoors from March - May when the plants have around 5 leaves harden off and transplant outside into their final planting position spacing the plants around 45cm apart and 45cm between rows treading the plants in well.
 
Alternatively sow outdoors between May - June in a seed bed sowing thinly in drills 1.25cm deep thin the seedlings eventually spacing the plants 45cm apart and 45cm between rows in their final growing position treading the plants in well.
 
Water well when transplanting and during any dry spells.
