Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds indoors from February to April in seed trays or small pots filled with fine compost. Lightly press seeds onto the surface and cover with a fine layer of compost. Maintain a temperature of 18-22°C and keep the soil moist but not overly wet. Germination usually occurs within 7-14 days.

 

Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots and harden them off before planting outdoors after the last frost. Space plants 30-40 cm apart in a sunny, well-drained location.

 

For direct sowing, plant seeds outdoors in well-prepared soil from late April to May, covering lightly with soil and watering gently.

 

To encourage continuous flowering, deadhead spent blooms regularly. African Marigold Mary Helen will provide a dazzling display of colour throughout the season while attracting pollinators and protecting companion plants from pests.
