An excellent variety that produces an abundant crop of delicious dark grean heads that can be picked over a long period of time from late summer.

Brassicas require a fertile well drained soil in partial shade that has been well dug in autumn they do not grow well in acidic soil so adding lime to the soil may be necessary.  Sow indoors from March onwards when the plants have around 5 leaves harden off and transplant outside to their final growing position spacing the plants around 60cm apart and 30cm between rows treading the plants in well.
 
Alternatively sow out doors from April - May in a seed bed sowing thinly in drills 1.25cm deep thin the seedlings eventually spacing the plants 60cm apart and 30cm between rows in their final planting position treading the plants in well.
 
Germination takes between 7 and 10 days.Water well before transplanting and Ensure the plants are kept well watered.
Sow April - MayHarvest August - October
Companion Planting Cabbage, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, beetroot, carrot, onions, sage, rosemary, mint, calendula, marigolds and nasturtiums.
Do not plant with strawberries.The large heads can be harvested from September onwards after the heads are cut leave the plant and smaller shoots will grow from the side of the plant they can be harvested for around 6 weeks.
A good source of vitamin A,C and iron.
Use for Boiling or steaming.Ideal for freezing.
