Chilli Pepper Hotscotch Mr Fothergill's Seed

An extremely hot Chilli Pepper this is a combination of habanera and scotch bonnet varieties so proceed with caution. The rounded fruits ripen from green to red, orange then brown these are best suited to growing in a tunnel or greenhouse but could be grown in pots on a sunny patio.

Chilli's can be grown outside in a sheltered sunny spot or in the tunnel or greenhouse in humus rich soil, large pots and grow bags.  Sow from February to May filling a small seed tray with compost and cover with fine compost. Keep the compost moist not over watering place on a sunny windowsill, warm green house or propagator at 18 - 20 degrees.  Transplant to larger individual pots when the seedlings are large enough to handle growing on.  If the plants are to be grown outside harden off and plant out in June - July or plant the tunnel or greenhouse.
Germination takes between 7 - 10 days.
Liquid feed the plants every two weeks when the flowers appear.
Sow February - March
Harvest July - October
Companion Plants Tomato, Cucumber, Chard, Squash.
Do not plant with Beans, Brassicas or Fennel.
The Chilli's can be harvested when they are developed enough by snipping off the Chilli with scissors. They can be left on the plant to redden and gain more heat.
Chilli's can cause skin irritation so wearing gloves may be necessary when handling the fruits.
