Coastal Gardens

Planting a coastal garden can be a real challenge with exposure to salt laden cold winds during winter and drying warm winds during summer, plants at the coast need to be extremely tough however coastal gardens don't usually have severe frosts during winter so tender plants tend to thrive.
Planting a wind break in the form of a hedge is an excellent idea and will make a big difference to your garden providing valuable shelter and offering protection to any planting displays, hedges are a great wind break compared to walls and fences as they filter the harsh winds. In a new coastal garden this must be a priority.
