Grow and maintenance

Grow in full sun in fertile soil enriched with compost. Water during dry spells and keep weed-free. Protect young plants from flea beetle and cabbage root fly. Harvest when roots reach 10–15 cm across and store in a cool, dry place. Frost improves flavour.

Uses and benefits

Excellent for winter cooking, with sweet, creamy flesh that suits roasting, mashing and soups. Stores well and adds seasonal value to the vegetable garden. Tops can be steamed or sautéed as leafy greens. Helenor offers consistent yields and cold-season reliability.
