Onion Spring Long White Ishikura Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This popular salad onion is both quick and easy to grow it has silvery white skinned bulbs with bright green tops and a mild flavour sow little and often for a continuous supply during summer.

☀️Sow March - August

☀️ Germination 14 - 21 days

☀️ Loam or sandy soil thats alkaline or neutral

☀️ Harvest June - September

☀️ Companion Plants Carrots, beetroot, lettuce, leeks and brassicas

Do not plant with beans, peas and asparagus

☀️ Pull the onions when they are large enough

A good source of vitamin C

☀️ Use in salads, sandwiches and Oriental Dishes

☀️ A handy tip grow in pots and containers especially if space is limited

Onions need a well drained sunny area that has been well dug in autumn adding plenty of compost or well rotted manure. They do not grow well in acidic soil so adding lime maybe necessary.

Sow every two weeks to have a continuous supply of onions. They can also be grown in window boxes or containers on the patio. Keep well watered during dry spells.

Sow thinly 1.5cm deep in drills from March - August. No need to thin the crop.
